HELP Choosing New CPU!

Hi,

I want to upgrade my 3000+ venice to something new. I have been looking around but am unsure on whether to go with dual core or single core.

3800+ x2 / 4400+ x2 / Opteron x2

or

FX-55 / Opteron?

I want to stay around the 200$ price range. Truthfully, I use the comp for gaming, music, and a little graphic design. What do you think? Maybe a opteron 165?

Your 3000+ has a resale value, factor that in (maybe $40)

If you do not want to change out the entires system, CPU,MB,Ram and do a new Win XP install on a new rig, then Look at the Opteron 165. A lot of users are raving at its OC ability and it is Dual Core

Opty 165

my 3000+ has amazing steppings too, i hope I can get around 45-50$ for it

Im leaning towards the opty 165. Ill probably end up buying one from here soon!

Second the Opty 165 recommendation, though the last run of s939 X2s were also good overclockers. Nothing wrong with an Opteron 170 as well if you find one at a good price.
