I've got a John Deere pushmower. Nothing fancy. Since it's spring, I figure what better time to change the oil and install a new air filter.

Do pushmowers have an oil drain plug like cars do? Or do you just tip the mower over and drain out the fill hole?

Thanks

My old Craftsman push mower had a bolt you unscrewed underneath, right near the blades. Just be careful working around near the blades, you might want to pull off the spark plug wire just to be safe:)

That reminds me, I completely forget what kind of oil you're supposed to use in a lawnmower? I don't think it's "regular" car oil, like 5w-30 is it?

Easy directions: with the mower running, reach under and locate the drain plug. Drain old, dirty, used motor oil and replace with fresh, extra virgin olive oil, or a vegetable blend for best performance. Go in peace, friends.

All the ones I've worked on had either a square or normal hex "bolt" (they were usually plastic) with a square hole in the middle that you could stick a socket wrentch right in...

All of that stuff can be found very easily in the manual:p However, i think my JD push mower drained from the fill hole and I'm pretty sure that it uses 10w-30
