I'm using PIII 1Ghz, how fast of a Celeron can outperform my 1Ghz PIII? Because I want to upgrade my S370 CPU. Show me some benchmark web page if U can.

THe fastest Celeron Socket370 is the 1.4GHz, which I highly doubt is compatible with your board, and probably not that much faster (if at all) that the P-III you are running now.

The only P6 based Celeron's you can get your hands on in retail these days are the Tualatin Celerons, for all intents and purposes they're the same as your current P3, save for the 100 MHz bus, but they're excellent overclockers, so pumping the FSB a bit shouldn't be a problem, and it will be a nice cheap upgrade, assuming your mobo can handle Tualatin Celerons.

Actually, some of the Celeron cores that run at frequencies greater than 1GHz are essentially CuMine P3s. They have 256KB of L2 cache but they operate on a 100MHz FSB (but can be easily overclocked to 133MHz FSB). In your case hk, one of the new Celerons or P3s that are .13u will probably will not work with your board unless you have one of the newer S370 boards (815 B stepping or equivalent VIA offering). Intel changed the signaling with the .13u chips and the older chipsets do not support the voltage change in the signaling. There are some mods than can be done to some boards that allow the CPU to work with older chipsets but the voltage is still out of spec and can shorten the life of the CPU.

I think that this article is a good place to start. In my honest opinion though, you won't be able to upgrade your 1.0 GHz PIII to anything that will have enough speed to notice. Sure it will be slightly faster, but why spend $60-$250 for something barely faster? If you are going to spend the money, on a good day you can get a 2.4 GHz P4 from Dell for not much more than $300.

for $110 you can get yourself a Shuttle AK32 and an athlon xp 1700 tbred B and overclock the crap out of it! Because the shuttle has multiplyer adjustments, just set the multiplyer to 12.5x144 and your off to xp2200 land! THis config should put any celeron/piii to shame.

tbred 1700 only puts a celly to shame if its o/c. i know cuz have both 1.5ghz celly and 2100+xp. 2100+ not much faster really.

1.1a oc to 1.5ghz garranteed basically. its 40 dollars with retail heatsink. awesome deal if u do slocket mod or buy a slocket t to use in older board.

BTW, Tualatin Celerons are faster than PIIIs. The Tually has data prefetch, and the PIII does not.
