Someone hit and ran my boss' car last night and we're pretty sure it is someone in our neighborhood. There isn't much reason to go past our house unless you live up there and this happened at 1am, so we've hypothesized a neighbor on the way home from the bar is responsible.

We have a piece from the culprit's car that broke off on impact and it's our best clue so far. Attached is a picture of it. It appears to be undamaged, so hopefully someone can tell what kind of car this is from.

Across the top of the piece it says:
>PC< GUIDE 16530361 CR 2 7

Anyone here have any ideas??

Thanks.

This thread is asking for fail. Call the cops, file a claim and move on with your life. Oh wait...this isn't even your car, its your boss'.

Wow, lighten up. I'm just seeing if anyone knows better than I how to interpret car part numbers. The police have been called, so has insurance. If you don't wanna help, move on.

It appears to be a cover of some kind, most likely from a light judging from the diamond pattern of engravings on it. Actually, the pattern indicates a reflector of some sort. I also tell that the piece is meant to sit flush with the exterior of whatever it belongs in. I can tell this by the three tab-like devices as well as what appears to be a bezel of some kind. The device is also symmetrical along the vertical. I find this symmetry curious for a reflector. Why would it be symmetrical? Perhaps this is not its proper orientation. A curious artifact you have indeed. I need more information before my research on this matter can be completed. Do you have any more for me, friend?

Funny you should ask. We also found a passenger side view mirror. It's part number is either 00696 or MC504-1; both are on the back. You wanna check with the boys in the crime lab and see if we've got any interesting leads??

Friend, please tell me the color of this mirror. Post a picture if possible. You see, crime scene investigation is all about the little details, if I don't have access to those, I might as well give up. Part numbers are practically useless, what I need are photos. Everyone knows this.

I'd post on an auto forum and let the egos take over. You'll probably get an answer pretty quick.

Myself, I'll need a make and model before I can proceed.

The OP has made far too many assumptions. I suggest he stick his head in a five gallon bucket of water for five minutes and inhale deeply.

Someone create a GUI interface in Visual Basic, see if they can track the IP address on that reflector.
