I've just assembled a computer as follows:
asus k8v se deluxe
athlon 64 3000
1gb pc32000 mem
windows xp home edition (oem) 2002 version with service pack 1
cd rom drives
old ibm 20gb ide drive
new wd raptor 72gb s ata drive
I've connected the SATA drive to the onboard serial ata connections once and to the RAID connector, but the system bios does not even recognize this as a possible bootable drive. I installed win xp on the old ibm drive, but the os still doesn't recognize the SATA drive. However, when I look under device manager, the drive is listed as working properly.
I'd like to install windows xp to the sata drive and boot off of it. Any help would be appreciated. Is the problem the board? Under the bios settings, I've enabled anything to do with SATA and RAID
Incidentally, I've also installed the Promise drivers.
