ok heres the deal...CS worked ok for me before, except for random lock ups with a green dashed line across the top of the screen. the problem began after i did this: yesterday i installed the DX8a drivers and things went ok, today i disabled the onboard sound and installed the mx300 w/ latest drivers and the VIA 4-1 update, restarted and it booted fine i, didnt test CS tho thinking the sound card wouldnt matter...then i shutdown stuck in my tnt2 (it had been messing up a month ago and i had removed it but wanted to see if it might work now) and rebooted it updated the detinator drivers then restarted, came back up ok i went into CS and it froze just as the console was moving up off the screen as i entered the game. i had to do a hard restart and tried again, same thing. then i removed in and replaced the v550, came bakc up everything worked ok and i started CS. same thing, it got a few seconds father (sometimes it would get as far as the choose team screen then freeze) but i can run the game at all.
just to test it i tried running TFC and got the same result...
so what has gotten messed up? since so many things have been changed in this short period of time i dont know what my next step should be. is there anyway to remove the VIA drivers and DX8a? thanks for your help
