Help....Can't get an older HP Pentium system to post

My computer illiterate sister's older HP..Pentium 233 system died yesterday and she asked me to check it out. It
worked ok when she last turned it off, but now when you hit the power button...the power LED justs flashes very rapidly all
the time and the speakers emit a thumping noise. It's out of warrenty so I opened it up(she can't find her manual).
It has a baby ATX MoBo of undetermined brand with onboard video, and a modem and sound card in the PCI slots.

Since it won't post, (no video at all comes up on the monitor and there are no beeps..it has to be unplugged to get the power LED to stop flashing) I'm thinking it's either a crapped out PW SUP, or video.

Any ideas? TIA
 
ok...is the PSU AT( twin power leads 12 in number) or ATX (one single big Molex)? If its ATATX and your rig is AT/ATX hook up your PSU to it. AT and ATX are not interchangeable. <edit> Welcome to Anandtech forums !!! 😀
 
Very carefuly remove and reseat the power connector (on the board) also all the supporting cards and the cpu & memory... Then give it a try... 😉 Being an older PC it may just be a loose connection...?
