Hi,
I read through a couple of articles on the net on how to set up my home computer as a FTP server. On this computer I have 2 HDs and I want to connect to all the partitions on it. All of them are NTFS.
I will summarize below in short form to make it easier to read:
- I use XP Pro SP2.
- downloaded and installed Serv-U.
- setup my account with DynDNS and chose a domain "example.ftphome.net".
---installed the DynDNS updater for dynamic IP reporting.
- I have a Cable Internet and Dynamic IP.
- Have a Linksys WRT54GC wireless router connected to a Cable Modem with 128-bit wireless security.
- The home desktop is hard-wire connected to the wireless router.
- Went into the Linksys and tried changing the Applications/Gaming button to allow FTP at port 21 and put in the ip address of my desktop. The 192.168.1.XXX one.
- Put an exception for Serv-U in WinXP Firewall
When I try to connect from the internet, I can't connect using "ftp://example.ftphome.net", but I can connect using "ftp://00.00.00.00" ip address. This is a different ip address then my desktop..I guess my router's.
- So how can I make typing the name work for ftp?
- The other problem I have is that when I use the ip-address, it only connects to one drive..the "home" drive I designated in Serv-U. I have manually entered another drive and given all priveleges, but, that doesn't show up.
Any help would be great.
