Okay before I start my current specs are:

AMD Athlon 1GHz @ 1.133GHz
Mushkin High Perf Rev2 256MB SDRAM
Abit KT7-RAID

I think that's all the info you need for my question, if you want to see more you can click the link in my sig.

Anyway, here is my story, I plan on upgrading my comp soon and I would like your opinion, should I ditch the the 256MB of PC133 SDRAM I have now and go for 256MB of PC2100 DDR SDRAM and a Gigabyte GA-7DXR board, or should I go keep the 256MB and get another 256MB DIMM (Total 512MB SDRAM) and an IWill KK266R board. I know this has been discussed many times, but now I am having a hard time deciding, should I save a little money for more RAM, less bandwidth, or just go out and get DDR and should I get the Epox board over the Gigabyte board?

ok, here are your choices, msi k7 master(ddr, and very stable), i also recommend epox 8k7a since half of the world is recommending it, i dont like gigabyte, and you should spend it on DDR if youve got sh1t loads in your wallet.

i recommend upgrade to this:

athlon 1.2 and beyond (266FSB)
MSI k7 master motherboard or epox 8k7a, if you like overclocking then go to epox if you dont then stick to MSI
at least 256 MB DDR RAM (2100 and above)

but, there is really no point on upgrading your computer since youve got a 1.13 athlon already and 1.2 isnt gonna make much of a diffrence, and for the motherboard and ram, if you want to go broke then upgrade if your happy with your current system then stick with it

Actually the CPU i'm planning on upgrading to is a 1.33 or 1.4GHz and I plan on O/Cin it to around 1.6 to 1.7 using a Swiftech MC462 HSF, so I think that it is worth the upgrade. I found an AYHJA Y at www.pcnut.com, so I believe that my goal is possible, I just need a good O/C board, if possible with a 3-Phase MOSFET like what comes with the Gigabyte boards, unless the Epox board is really that much better.
