HELP! CAN'T BOOT!

Hi all...First time in the forums...and...Merry Christmas

It's Christmas and I was able to replace my system that I thought died recently...

I had a 845D from ASUS with a FX5900XT, a 5400rpm HD from Maxtor, 1 stick of Samsung 512mb
RAM with a P4 1.8ghz as the CPU... Just a couple of months ago my system couldn't boot...no signal from
the monitor and the fan on the FX5900XT stopped running after starting the system...

I thought the AGP port, whatever I did, died and was hopeless...
So today I got a AMD 3000+ (754), a nforce3 board from Chaintech, another stick of 512mb RAM and a
400W power supply...

It went fine until it too, had the same problem after I changed memory timings to CL-1-2.5-(can't remember...) and it never managed to reboot...the fan on the FX5900 stopped after 10 seconds of running and a blank monitor...

Tried everything: Taking out the BIOS battery (whatever is was) and putting it back again and changing GFX cards but nothing seems to work...

Thanks in advance and again...Merry Christmas!

Your video card is probably fine since you were able to get into the bios at least once...

Your problem is probably a bios setting issue and you should reset he bios.

Do this by unplugging the computer from the wall, then taking out the bios battery, then setting the jumper of your mobo to clear cmos (you need to check your mobo instruction manual to determine which jumper this is), then plugging the comp back in and powering it on, wait for about 30 secs and then turning it off. Then reset the jumper and battery and try powering it on.

those memory timings are ur problem. i don't know of any memory that supports a CAS timing of 1. it looks like you're trying to tweak, but you shouldn't really do that if u don't know what you're doing.

Well...just thought I try this before I go (couldn't resist). After all, all I have to do is set the jumper right?
Anyway I tried it and it worked! It can actually get through post now! Lots of thanks guys!

I have a similar problem..... i cant boot up or get my mobo to post when i have 4 sticks of 256 mb kingston hyperx installed on my mobo. When i first got windows installed it worked fine, but i then decided to overclock (3000+ on water cooling, it would be a joke if i didnt) and ran steady at 278 fsb
i ran prime 95 last night and woke up to a monitor that wouldnt turn on so i'm guessing that i locked up some were in the night. I tried to restart but my computer wouldnt post. i took out all but on dimm in slot b1 and it worked fine, then i put all 4 dimms in didnt post. I am running bios ver. 1.0.0.7 right now i ahd 1.0.0.8 and tried the beta 1.0.0.9 but nothing has worked so far. i can also get into windows and run everything good when i have 2 sticks in slots b1 and b2 but my comp will never post when i have dual channel enabled. Any ideas on how i could fix this, maybe i need to re seat my ram and clear cmos? please help.....
