help . cant boot from my cdrom?? Please look now, Im trying to get this dual boot going

I have it selected in my bios (soft menu 3) but my PC still boots from the c: drive ? any ideas here fellas? thanks

What order is the boot? If IDE is before CD then.... Or simply disable IDE BOOT till later. That is how I install without a floppy to boot.

Other than that... you got me.

rmblam im gonn look again. where do i look for IDE boot? I hace see a menu that says boot first= cdrom Hd0 hd1 hd2 flopy SCSI. ect...

dam I cant get this working. dam ill go look again. ive looked threw all the options again and again.

here is the setup

first=CDrom
second=hdd00


I dont know what else to do. maybe a BIOS upgrade?

bacillus im trying to boot from a win2000 cd. but I think its my older BIOS im gonna flash it now. well here goes nothin. my first flash.

You could also try just not letting it boot from the HD. Set the CD as the first boot device, and set the rest of them to none, or SCSI if your bios suppots it.

If you CD-ROM is not set to Auto-detect, it will not boot, but CD-ROMs work fine when set to None for everything but Booting.

$hit still no go. maybe this win2k cd is not bootable? i was told it is. maybe its the Duplicate. mine of course.


any one have any other ideas?

Did the CD come with a boot disk (floppy)? Sometimes you have to use the boot disk (floppy) to load, and tell your system to enable it to boot from CDROM. I have seen this before.

Let us know what you find.

If it is an IDE CDROM make sure that it is set as master. It took me two days of trying everything before I finally figured that out.
