Help, cannot copy paid for music to disk

I don't know if this is an issue with Media player 10 or SP2 for XP, but this is crap. I have tried to install music copied from a store bought CD to the library, to the hard drive in a file; no matter what, it refuses to copy anything unless its a shortcut to the CD drive.
What is wrong with this? Is there a work around? Has anyone else experienced this anomoly?

maybe it's that drm crap, i know when i updated too media player 10 my mp3's stopped working all together......a quick reformat and I've havn't looked back to media player 10 since, maybe try reformating and go back to wm9, it worked for me...

Use CDEx or EAC + LAME to rip to MP3 (or FLAC if you're insane like me 🙂 )

search archived threads in the Software forum using "cdex" or "exact audio" or "rip" for a bunch of threads on this.

That doesn't make sense. Microsoft advertises you can download your music to the library. It has been reviewed by pc mag and others saying it works great, much better for mp3's. There has to be a setting I don't know about or something, or its SP2 crap. And if so, lets file a law suit against Bill Gates for stealing our ability to use the computer to the advertised way they sell it and the software is supposed to allow.

I see, you use thr "RIP" function to add music from a CD to your library. I just copied 20 gigs of music to my hard drive from the cd's when I had media 9. Different method. As long as the music files are in the library where I can copy them for storage as files, then I'm good. We'll see.😱
