Help buying Windows 2003 server

I'd like to buy win 2003 server, so I can play around with it.

Any suggestions where I could get it for a relatively low price? Every version I've seen seems to include 5 licenses. I only want 1. I found the "2003 Server Web Edition" for $390, but I'm not sure if that's what I'm looking for. I want the full product. If anyone can offer some help, I'd appreciate it.

I've tried it and unless you need the server features on it, it's not worth it. As i understand it the minimum is 5CAL's with the purcahased price. I believe those are free with purchase of the software. Oh and also new egg offers the OEM version of the software at $100 cheaper if you purchase some hardware.

If you just want it to play around with you can download a limited time use version (works for 120 days) from Microsoft's website for free.

Than you'd only need the hardware to play with it on.

Yeah I did that before I....acquired it.
the 120 days lasted a long while, that should be fine for you.

Illegal. Server software (OEM) is only licensed if it's sold with a complete pre-built machine. Only the client OS (OEM) can be sold with a single piece of hardware.

But the actiona pack is a subscription so after a year you will have to renew at whatever the current price is, otherwise you don't have a valid license and must uninstall all the software.
You do get a whole bunch of spftware but it is only a 1 year subscription

I am pretty sure this is the way it works but I can't get to the license right now.
