Help ... Burned Processor???

I recenetly got a MSI K7T Pro-2a motherboard and a Duron 700MHz processor(green core). I planned on overclocking the processor. I was exploring the settings in the bios and I accidentally (exited with saving changes instead of without) changed the cpu core volt to the first option on the list which I think is 1.8(if anybody could check this I would appreciate it), and I also changed the multiplier to 8.5. Now when I turn the comp, the diagnostic leds on the motherboard show show the system halting at proccesor initialization. Also the display doesn't come up at all, the moitor light just flashes like when it's turned on and not connected to anything.

I was wondering if these problems indicate a burned processor? Anyone have any suggestions of how to remedy this problem?

Reset the CMOS first. It should POST again. BTW, did you connect the L1 first? May be you should try to redo it.

Don't worry, your CPU should be OK. After trying all means your last resort is pulling out the CPU from the socket and put it back in. In doing so the default settings will be brought back and the system will boot correctly. Good Luck!

Don't worry,
I am running my CPU at 1.8v
you cmos just locked read in book how to clear cmos and reboot and you should be fine

Durons is just like the T-bird's, both of them should run fine even at 1.85V... so I really doubt the voltage will cause your CPU to burn out...

do what the others suggested already... reset your CMOS, change your multipler back to default and try again...

also, make sure the processor is sitting on the board correctly. I had some of the same symptoms.

the duron on fits one way hehe so it will be sitting correctly hehe :Q

Just hold down on the INSERT key then start up your system...this will override the changes you made in the bios and boot to the defaults.

you could also hit the switch in the back of the ps for a minute and than boot it up...works for me...that and the insert button, but ... it should be able to run with 1.85 v ... if your mulitplier was changed and the L1 was unlocked improperly...that would create a problem...but clearing the cmos should work fine....
