I'm an nVidia guy, and I think the 6800 line is a great value right now. My 6800 Ultra is pushing BF2 very smoothly at 1280 x 1024 with almost all quality settings on high.

Don't see a sound card in there. You gonna live with the onboard chip? Audigy 2's are a good value right now.

so are you suggesting an 6800 Ultra? that would be a horrible choice. a 6800GT even is a bad choice since an X800XL is cheaper and is slightly faster and runs cooler, and a 7800GT is not much more expensive.

i would suggest an antec 3000 case, a Fortron 450W, both combined would equal $100 or less.

dell 19' is fairly good and is priced well. Logitech quickcams are pretty good. if you go with the X800XL, then all this can fit under your budget.

I would suggest saving 70 bucks on the CPU and go with a 3500, because chances are good that you will be switching to the dual core line in the near future so you shouldn't over spend right now on the CPU. Plus at 219 the 3500 is a steal.

With that extra 70 bucks you can get a bigger video card, either a 7800GT or go with the x800xl and save even more money to use in other places, like a nice sound card and speakers if you game. Also if you game, the Dell 2005 is a wonderful monitor. I play CS:S and there is nothing like pwning n00bes it 20 inch wide screen glory.....ahhhhh I'm out going to find a good CS server now!!!

If its JUST a gaming rig...I would ditch the Western Digital 320GB SATA 8MB Cache 7200RPM !!

And get 2-- 80 or 100 western digital h/d and configure them in a raid0...

You will find that alot of top flight gamers as well as myself swear by raid0....you will see a marked improvement in spped over having just one 320 gig harddrive!!

ROFL, please show me some other gamers that swear by a Raid 0. I think you are the only one swearing by it, I know I strongly advise against it, for gaming there isn't any advantage to it at all.

Hey to the OP, go with the x800xl right now!!!! it's a much better choice then the 6800 at the current time. If you want to go higher end with the video card go with the 7800.
