hi i appreciate any input
i am currently building a computer (c2d e6400, 2gb ram, ecs p956t-a mobo, geforce 7600 GT, etc) and ive pretty much done everything there is to do..everything is juiced all the power cables are plugged in but when i hit the on switch (the one in the back of the case, not the on/ff in the front) only the processors fan spins, and the side panel LED light glow and the fans spin.....can you guys think of any potential problems I could have ran into? is there anything else i need to know or to look out for thanks

Sorry I'm not sure I understand you...

The processor fan spins when you only press the on button on the *back* of the power supply? Not the one on the front?

Can you get everything to power up in any way?

Do you see anything on the screen?

 I'm confused. Why are you attempting to turn it on from the ps? That should be on in the first place before you even think about hitting the power button on the case. Now I'm thinking, did you count the mounting holes in the mb and then only place standoffs at those locations or is something grounding out?

ok maybe i didnt state it clearly enough, the on button behind the PSU is ON and the fans spin...the power button on the front of the case does nothing, i turn it on and off and it has no effect on anything...and nothing is showing up on the screen ive got it hooked up to my monitor and nothin showin up, no sounds, just fans spinning and green LED on the fan is on, the LEDs on the front of the case (including the power button) is not turning on

OK the fans should *not* spin with only the back PSU switch on - it should power the motherboard, but it should be idle.

The switch on the front of the case should be connected to the motherboard front panel header along with the reset button and the LEDs. Maybe you hooked it up wrong, or not at all?

/edit: someone here has a site, could be Mechbgon, with a guide to building a machine. maybe you should check it out.

I really agree with atheus that you should take the time to read the builders guide. There's nothing overly complicated about assembling a pc but you must get the wires right. You obviously don't have things connected properly.

my first build back in 2002 would not power on. I took it to a PC shop and the guy charged me $35 to fix one wire..I had the power button off by 1 pin..lol

anyways check and triple check the front panel connections.
