After a brief visit to an XXX site (by my brother) my IE homepage automatically resets to this site every time I Restart my computer. I have deleted my cookies. I have deleted everything out of my temporary internet files. I go into Internet options and reset the homepage to what I want it to be, but when I restart the computer, that XXX site is set as the homepage.

While viewing the page offline, I looked at the properties and found this:

res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/offcancl.htm#http://www.**********.com

Is this what is causing this automatic switch at start-up?? How can I get rid of this?

Someone PLEASE HELP!!

goto tools under internet explorer and see if you can reset the homepage to something. If not, then run "msconfig" under run and see what's booting up as you're starting up your computer. It should give you some stuff on which 1 of the weird programs is running. You might have to go into the procedures and other stuff, not just software loadups to find that.

The thing might be causing it. look at it, make a backup copy of it, and then delete it. If your window won't boot up after that, go into dos-prompt and just re-copy the file over. 😀

Try opening regedit and search for that URL... then modify the key to a different URL.. reboot and see if it will default to your new URL.

Also, try what the other person suggested.. look in MSconfig and see if there might be anything starting up. Also try looking in add/remove programs.

What version of Internet Explorer is it? you may be able to repair it

Go to a sight you want to use for your home page. Then in I.E. got to tools......Internet Options, then click on "use current" under the home page window at the top. Viola.....no more porn

dude he just said he tried that and it didn't work...

i bet it is something with either the shortcut itself or something in the registry. Check the IE shortcut, sometimes it can have a website to start up into...c:\program files\internet explorer\ie.exe "www.yahoo.com" something to that effect. maybe check to see if there is a ie.ini file that has been changed to a read-only format so that when you change the homepage in IE...it just reverts back to the old one cause you can over write the ini file. uncheck the read-only.
