After a brief visit to an XXX site (by my brother) my IE homepage automatically resets to this site every time I Restart my computer. I have deleted my cookies. I have deleted everything out of my temporary internet files. I go into Internet options and reset the homepage to what I want it to be, but when I restart the computer, that XXX site is set as the homepage.

While viewing the page offline, I looked at the properties and found this:

res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/offcancl.htm#http://www.**********.com

Is this what is causing this automatic switch at start-up?? How can I get rid of this?

Someone PLEASE HELP!!

How do you connect to the Internet? Dial up or through a LAN(Cable,DSL etc)?

If it is a LAN go to tools>Internet Options>Connections and click on the LAN settings button...

see if it is set up to conect to a proxy server...My daughters computer did that with ad subtract. Wouldn't go anywhere without going there first.

You didn't mention what OS you are using...I am assuminings its windows 98/2000/XP:

1) open up a command prompt and goto regedit
2) backup your entire registry onto the harddrive first before you do anything.
3) Search all existing keys for "shdoclc.dll" or "XXXX.com" (replace XXX with the name of the web page that it forces up at startup)
4) if you find a suspicious key, then delete it, and reboot, it should be fixed
5) download a copy of ad-aware and run it periodically
6) get a copy of Norton Internet Security or some other similar software firewall that will protect this from happening in future.
