After a brief visit to an XXX site (by my brother) my IE homepage automatically resets to this site every time I Restart my computer. I have deleted my cookies. I have deleted everything out of my temporary internet files. I go into Internet options and reset the homepage to what I want it to be, but when I restart the computer, that XXX site is set as the homepage.

While viewing the page offline, I looked at the properties and found this:

res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/offcancl.htm#http://www.**********.com

Is this what is causing this automatic switch at start-up?? How can I get rid of this?

Someone PLEASE HELP!!

are you sure it's your brother? 😉 j/k

anyways, try these and see if any of them works:
1. repair msie (start > setting > control panel > add/remove software > msie > repair msie
2. delete the file
3. delete the file and then repair msie
4. open regedit and try to change HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page to something else (if it's not changed)

btw, what do you mean "when viewing the page offline and look at the properties"?
do you mean you just look at the source or what?
