Christ people need to learn how to drive in snow, you guys got a skimp and the whole south freaks out. We got about 8-10in where I live and I only had an extra 5 minutes getting to work.

FWIW people in the south cant drive when its sunny and dry out either

Hilarious atlanta basically shut down over a few inches. In upstate NY it would have a monumental blizzard to produce the results of what is happening down there.

Time to start foraging for food and gas.

The first step is to strip naked and turn his shirt into a loin cloth.

Then post pics.

FWIW infrastructure helps, they aren't prepared to treat the roads and clear them with the proper equipment like places that get snow regularly

corwin, i agree but they knew it was gonna be bad and could have said "dont fing drive anywhere"

which they did someplaces, driving bans and whatnot

Please tell me that he hasn't been idling this entire time?

What kills me is this photo:

Really? You guys cannot drive 5mph and be safe? just take your foot off the gas and brake and you will crawl along and things will be fine.

Just slow the hell down and snow isn't that hard to handle.

FWIW, the infrastructure doesnt help when its still pouring snow in very low temps, most places dont even salt/cinder the roads well if at all while the snow is beating down because it just doesnt help.

Actually it does help, if you pre-treat the roads and keep treating them then the snow is mostly slush instead of hard packed almost ice...it's still not great but better...and I'm betting they don't have very many trucks to treat the roads there

The roads have no salt or scarping going on so some people can't get up hills and then 1 car stalls out, then another, and another till the road is clogged. So even if YOU are able to move the road is now jammed. Let alone the idiots driving on summer tires or bald ones.

This happened in Raleigh NC when I lived there years ago. I was able to get home in 2 hours by back roads, I had good tires and a FWD car, that normally took 25minutes. Most of the time the jams were due to people leaving their cars in the road or other jamming up the intersection as they don't want to miss the light for some reason.

What can be done, any advice. Hes running low on gas.
20 hours and counting....

Fear not! I shall put on my impenetrable cape and bulging crotch highlighting leotards, and slither out there and rescue him! For I am SUPERSNAKE!

That was just a Halloween gag.

This is a real pic of what I really look like while rescuing snakes and other super hero stuff.

You guys have no idea on the magnitude of the gridlock. No superior snow driving ability is going to help you if the traffic is at standstill and not moving. Imagine moving 1 block in like 2-3 hours. Imagine 5 million people moving all at once and the roads are frozen in inches of ice and snow. Probably 40% of people living in Atlanta are Yankees. I lived in Chicago for 4 years and drove there and in Canada during the winter. That's cakewalk to what I experienced yesterday. I was slipping and sliding everywhere. I'm thankful I got home after 7 hours without an accident.
