I have a dilemma with my computer, and I'm pretty sure it's being caused by my video card. There are transparent, dark bands going across my monitor horizontally. I thought it might be my monitor, but I plugged in another one and it does the same thing. So I took my video card out today, and the fan is broken off and dangling by wires. It's an Asus 6800 GeForce 256 DDR. I'm assuming the card is overheating, when I touched it, it was as hot as hell. What would any of you suggest I do? Can the fan be fixed, or do I need a new card? Or is this even the problem, because even when the card is cold, just having started my computer, the dark bands appear. Thanks.

I have heard of a lot of these problems with the fans breaking. I would run down to radioshack and pick up a small fan and just put it on to replace the dead one. Or if your card is still under warrenty have a new one sent to you.

If that is the problem with the lines I dont know, but could be, so far all the evidence points to that.

Garrett.

fan from 486 cooler should fit perfectly.
try radioshack.
remove the dead fan from your video card.
use cazy glue(gel type recommanded) and just glue it on.
connect the fan to powersupply and you are ready to go.
