Help!! Broken battery socket clip on Abit SE6!!

My dad was replacing the CMOS battery in his Abit SE6 and thought the arm over the battery was supposed to bend all the way back in order to remove the battery....well the arm snapped about 1/2 way up and now the battery won't stay in. We tried doing a bit of engineering to get the clip back in but haven't had much luck. I did manage to jam the clip into the battery socket but it's not 100% in there and is somewhat shaky...anyone ever dealt with a problem like this? Think the clip can be soldered back on? Can the battery socket itself be replaced?
