Help....bootup problems....no beeps

Mattlock

Senior member
I just replaced the motherboard in my computer thinking my old one was dead but I am having the same problem.

The computer will not bootup and there are no beeps......

Any ideas?

No beep, does anything happen? Does the fans in the case come on. Is there a boot up screen when it trys to start?

If nothing happens, I would try a different power supply.

If the fans run but nothing else happens, it could be a bad CPU or motherboard. You have already tried a different motherboard so that leaves the CPU to try.

Do you have the speaker plugged into the proper pins on the motherboard (+ to + and - to -)?

You can also go to the BIOS manufacture web site and get a list of the trouble codes (beeps) and see what they have to say.

Another possibility here is that the board is shorted out. If the system powers on but nothing happens, try removing one screw at a time and boot the system. If the same thing happens, pull the next one, and so. If the system boots after you pull one of the screws, you'll know that's where the short is.
