Ok here's the story. I live in Seattle but am in Idaho this weekend visiting my parents. When my GF and I were unpacking my car (2007 Audi A4 3.2) she dropped the keys in the trunk then shut the trunk. The car was locked at the time thus locking the keys in the car. I usually have spares in the hood but this car is brand new and I haven't had time to put one it yet. So anyways I have a locksmith come out...he was able to unlock the cabin of the car but not the trunk. When he opened the cabin of the car, the alarm when off making all the electrical buttons in the car usless. Yep and you guessed it the trunk is run by an electrical button. So Audi says that the only thing I can do is to tow my car to the nearest dealer at my expense, which is over a two hour drive away. Does anyone know of a different recourse or an I totally buggered?

Is there a way to disable the alarm? Find out which fuse runs it, and pull it, and wait for alarm to reset before opening the doors again? No alarm activation = buttons working, in theory. This sounds too easy though.

Put the end of a large flat tipped screwdriver in the trunk lock keyhole. Take a large hammer and slam it hard into the handle of the screwdriver. This will pop the lock out of the trunk thereby allowing easy access. You will have to repair the damage afterwards though.

Can they make you a key from the Vin number. I had a customer lose his keys and I went to the GM dealer and gave the Vin and they got the key code and made a new set.

You could probably drill out the trunk lock. Just get some rope and tie it down to your bumper, good as new

I suggest that you call up the dealership you just bought the car from and talk to them. Talk to the sales guy or manager and be like:
"Hi I just bought a brand new 35K+ car from you guys just a short while ago and I have a favor to ask of you. I locked my keys in the car far away from home, the locksmith can't get in the trunk and I don't want to pay to get it open. Since I'm a freshly courted customer enjoying my smooth audi buying/owning experience, I thought you guys could take it to the next level and really help me out in a pinch here. It would definitely make for some good press and a repeat customer."
If you can't talk your way into getting what you want, or at least concessions, in a business transaction then just bend over and take it like usual.

That will work. But if it does not, you can do what my father did when I was young before they had fold down seats: He took a wrech (and various other tools) and completly removed the back seat of his (fairly new) 1978 Buick. It took him a few hours but he did get the keys back.

Simply put, how much is that two hours worth?
Would you rather pop the lock on your trunk and replace it later and in the meantime have it tied down with bungy cords? Would you rather break in through the back seats?
I would prefer the 2 hours. That's just me though.

Especially considering it has been over an hour and a half since you started this thread :roll:
I would probably disconnect the battery to the car. That might clear the alarm electrical lockout and then you might be able to get into the trunk.
