Well recently while playing various games, my computer has been crashing, when it does, everything turns into a white grid and freezes. I thought I had taken care of my crashing problems seen here. Anyways, after having this happen a couple times, I also noticed that my GPU temps were up pretty high after playing games, I didn't think much of it. Untill today when I was installing a new soundcard, as I was checking everything with the sound card, I noticed that one of the two fans on my 6800GT wasnt spinning. So I took the card out, and what do I see but a huge piece broken out of the fan! And the other fan that works has stress marks like it could break at a moments notice!! What the hell do I do here, I didn't just shell out 400 bucks on this thing, just to have it break in a month! thanks guys

I have been trying to get ahold of BFG tech, they put me on hold, and its been like 20 minutes now. I'm so pissed right now I cant believe it. Has anyone else had something like this happen to their BFG? What on eath would cause the fan on a card to just blow up like that and stop working.

are you sure a cable/cord or something didnt clip the fan while your rig was on? or your finger maybe? was it like that when you got it?

Im sure nothing clipped it, my case is really tight and clean, no dangling cords or anything anywhere. It just started getting hot a few days back without me even opening the case or anything.

I did manage to get ahold of BFG and I have to RMA it. So that means I have to use my crappy ass FX5200 untill I get the new one.:(

Wow, BFG has one of the best tech support services that I have found. When my 6800 Ultra was acting up, I called them and got an RMA, and the new one works flawlessly.

If it was something that I could have damaged with slight OCing, then no, I would not have RMAed it. Its like getting told that your warrenty for your cars transmition is void because you put in a different air filter. gimme a break

BFG specifically states that overclocking, among other things commonly done by posters here, voids the warranty.

I think only one of those fans runs in 2D mode.....maybe not.

I doubt that overclocking would cause a fan blade to fail like that though, so I have no problem with this particular RMA.

Not that it matters what I think. :D

I had similar symptoms with my card, the screen would lock up in this grid of what looked like plaid colors. I was able to exchange it @ BBY, but I would have RMA'd if I couldn't. Weird problem, but my fans were working fine to my knowledge.

They didn't have any problems at Best Buy with you exchaning it? I probably would have tried that if I knew they would have taken it. But I remember seeing a bright green piece of paper that came with my BFG saying IF YOU EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CARD, DO NOT RETURN FROM WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT! or something along those lines. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
