Help....Barton 2500+ running slow!

ok I have bought a new MB and processor.
Barton 2500+ and MSI K7N2 L

Using CPU Z and in the initial screen, the clock speed is 1100MHZ. Isnt it supposed to be 1833? FSB is running at 100. Clock multiplier 11. Bus speed 200MHZ. Also my PC2100 Ram is working at 165 MHZ.

Try bumping your FSB to 133.

It's a 2500+...make it 166.

I tried both....

Doesnt work. I change the settings in the BIOS and they remain changed. But on the initial screen and CPUz still show the same clock speed and FSB.

Make sure your FSB jumper is set to 133/166 instead of 100.

Are you keep the RAM ratio? If not, have the RAM at 3/4 or so, so it's running at or under spec. If the RAM or CPU don't like the new speed, it should go back to defaults.
Mine does just what you mention if that happens: the BIOS settings are the same, but if I save and restart, it takes an extra second or so, and comes up at 133/133 (my board's defaults)

Right now your memory is running @ 100MHz (11x100), and it may or may not work @ 166MHz. Page 47 in the manual shows that you need to have jumper J10 on the top 2 pins, and J11 should have a jumper over both pins.

Page 61 shows the advanced chipset features portion of the bios, and you need to set the following:

[*]CPU FSB Clock to 166MHz
[*]CPU Interface to normal
[*]FSB DRAM Ratio to 1:1

Hit the ESC key, then F10 save and exit. If your system will not post you need to set the FSB DRAM Ratio to SPD because your memory will not run @ 166MHz.

ok now its fine...
actually the jumper on the mobo wa set incorrectly. Whenever the computer restarted, the settings were set as default...

Its a very useful jumper should you overclock via the BIOS - as resetting the BIOS doesnt reset the FSB on these boards for some reason...
