help automating a cleaning protocol

I work in a chemistry lab and I have an instrument that I am working on. It requires very clean metal surfaces so the samples we work with need to be cleaned by doing a series of steps many times that consists of turning a few dials and then after say 20 minutes turning a few more. It is very borning because it is the same thing over and over again. Is there something that I can plug into a computer that could power motors that could automatically turn different dials at given intervals? The dials are strictly manual so I would probably have to hook each of them up to different motors which would then plug into some board that plugs into the computer. I'd imagine that I could tell the program to give certain channels x amount of current over a certain time period or something like that.
Thanks for your help!
