Try as might I cannot get WinXP to detect my new soundcard. I've tried everything I can think of and each time I try to install the drivers I get the error message saying that an Audigy 2 ZS has not been found on my computer and the driver installation quits out!

Help!!

Shut down, move to a different slot, power back up. In theory XP should do the installing itself.. in theory.

do you have a known-good device you can plug into those slots just to make double-sure it's not the mainboard? - what does your device manager say? anything? nothing?

Thanks for your help...

yup, I've tried swaping other devices into the slots and they all work. I then put the soundcard in my old computer - worked fine! Its just refusing to be recognised on my new self built system. Having said that my old creative SB Live also refuses to be 'seen' as well on my new computer???

Which is

AMD 64 3700
Gigiabyte GA-KNS Ultra MB
1 GB Ram
9600 Gfx card
And an Audigy 2 ZS that refuses to play!

Any ideas. I've tried deleting old drivers, turning off onboard sound in BIOS all to no avial.

ahh, didn't realize the mb had onboard. I know you said you already turned it of in the BIOS but I'd be willing to bet that there's something in there associated w/ the onboard sound that getting overlooked/needs re-configuring.. wish I could tell ya what it is but if it were me I'd start there. I'd also poke around in DeviceManager and try deleting the current device and associated crap that's typically piggy-backed w/ it.
