Help: athlon 64 3200+ .90nm OC failing miserably

I can get the CPU to run stable at up to 240FSB with appropriate voltage and 3x HT settings, but only if memory is set to 5:6 (166). At max memclock of 200, even with 2T 3-3-3-10, the memory is failing stability tests, at ANY FSB speed above 200 FSB. I thought I had bad memory, so I RMA'ed it - tried the 2 new sticks - same deal. I have them in slots 1+2 because 3+4 weren't working well at all. I can't believe Ballistix can't even handle 420 DDR at 3-3-3-10...
Any suggestions?

Edit: I got it to work at 210FSB 1:1, but that's it. Anything higher is unstable at 1:1.

If slots 3 and 4 weren't working it could be the motherboard. Try testing some other ram in the motherboard, if that can't get above 200mhz its probably the mobo, because ballistix should be able to go MUCH faster than that.

Edit: Im not sure about this, but i believe you have to use slot's 1&3 or 2&4 to use dual channel memory. Try putting the ram in slots 1 and 3 and see if you can break 210mhz.
hope that helps ...

Well does it pass Memtest @ 200MHz 2-2-2-11-1T?

Have you tried bios 1.36b, 1.37 and 1.41?

Thanks for the replies.

I haven't tried 1T - I kept it at 2T. It passed 200Mhz 2-2-2-5 2T, and I'm currently stable at 2.5-2-2-5 2T @ 210Mhz. Nothing over 210Mhz works, no matter what the timing.

I haven't tried bios higher than 1.3 - should I? From what I've read, it seems that they just fix some bios bugs (like selecting HT freq without using up/down keys) and allow for higher % in voltages.

I have heard of antec true power issues early on, so I dont know if that is a confirmed and current still...What do the voltage rails look like...idle and load???

Also go ahead and for testing pruposes only run 1 stick for the time being....

According to the BIOS, I had 3.24, 4.96, and 11.67volts. According to MBM5 (I dont know if it's properly configured), it's 3.06, 4.95, and 12.28 volts (both under load and idle).

Dang it - tried only 1 stick of ram - 2.5-3-3-11, 2T 1:1 with 240FSB - seems stable! (memtest, superPI, and a little Prime95).... I guess I'll try slots 1+3, even though that'll make it run slower than 1+2 (Dual Channel).

first try bios 1.36b only, not newer. If that does'nt work...

Send me your ballistix and I'll send you my TCCD which will pass prime/memtest at 300Mhz 3-4-3 and 250Mhz 2.5-3-3. And 2-2-2 at 215Mhz... MSI don't love ballistix my board don't love TCCD:) My problem is I can't run 1T at any setting even defaults with epox board...very common problem it seems with 2 x 512:(

Ballistix should be easy 3-3-3 @ 250 with 1T at default volts let alone OC volts. MSI loves samsung tccd.

Well, 2.5 ghz was failing at any memory setting. Went back to 240FSB, memory at 2.5-2-2-5 1:1, single channel though. Things running okay, Prime95 been running for almost 2 hours. I'm getting 4750 score on PCMark04, which is about right for this setup, I think.

My only concern - at 1.65Volts, I'm now hitting 42/60 Celsius. Should I knock the voltage down to 1.625 and try to get as much OC as possible, or am I safe? Thanks
