Here are the specs:
ASUS A8V Deluxe Rev 2.0
Athlon 64 3500
Geil value ram 2x512mb
Asus V9999GT(256mb version)
Seagate 160GB HDD SATA
Pioneer 108 DVD burner
Thermaltake Tsunami Case w/ 400W PSU

I have just set everything up. When I turn the computer on, all fans start spinning, power and HDD leds light up and all looks to be ok. However there is no signal at all on the monitor, just a black screen. The video card is powered, since I have plugged the molex connectors in, fan spins and lights up blue too. It is not the monitor for sure since I checked on another comp. Can someone help out? Has anyone had a similar problem?

1) Is your ATX12V cable plugged in?

2) Look at your BIOS chip located here. One of the numbers on its sticker will be 100something, and indicates the BIOS the board came from the factory with. What BIOS revision you got?

3) Is your 3500+ a 90nm core?

(bonus item: is your video card's auxiliary power plugged in? Also, what's the 12V amperage on that TT power supply?)

Plug in a set of speakers to the green jack. The A8V has a feature that will speak the error code.

Welcome to the forums, btw. :)

1) Yea ATX 12V cable plugged in
2) BIOS sticker says 1008 on it
3) I am pretty sure its a 130nm core, the model number is ADA3500DEP4AW

yea, the ASUS card i have requires 2 molex connectors, and they are both plugged in
the amperage of the 12V is 17A. for the time being i have disconnected all case fans, however still nothing shows up on the monitor.

If you have a low-end AGP card such as an old Radeon or GeForce-series card, try that as a fact-finding step next and tell us what happens.

Take the board out of the case, lay it on cardboard, and threaten it. Then hook up your Ti4200, one memory module in slot DIMM_B1 (third from left), no drives, no keyboard, no non-essential items, no case wiring except the power-button wire, and try firing it up on cardboard. Before doing so, you might want to clear the CMOS:

1) unplug computer

2) remove CMOS battery

3) move the Clear CMOS jumper for about 15.7336 seconds ;) and then move it back to the normal position

4) replace CMOS battery and plug system back in

Good luck :) And to think, if you get it working, your next adventure will be installing an OS on the SATA drive...

Ok I tried booting as you said, with the motherboard out on a piece of cardboard. Only the ATX 20pin and 4pin connectors, the POWER SW wires are plugged in. Have one stick of 512mb in the B1 slot. Graphics card is in. Booted it up, but same thing. Fans run and stuff, but still no signal on monitor.

Hi

Have you solved the problem yet? I am thinking of getting the same set up and am interested in what happens.

Have you tried a better power supply?

I was having the same problem with an Antec true 380S power supply with this motherboard, but when I changed to an Enermax 485W it started right up and hasn't had a problem since.

Fixed my problem with the memory configuration.

My motherboard has the BIOS 8.00 rev. I had Kingston Dual Channel memory side by side (black and blue), I believe it was just stupidity, but as soon as i switched it...BAM, video and everything else comes on.

Thanks for all the tips here.
