I just installed a ASUS A7N8X Deluxe with AMD 2800+ XP with Corsair PC3500 XMS and my system upon start up will not boot into bios.
My system turns on (ie. fans, PSU, drives) my AGP light on the Motherboard turns green just nothing appears on my screen and no beeps are heard from the motherboard. The IDE Hard Drive light comes on but is at a steady indication. But once again nothing on my display the monitor turns on then just goes to standby. I have set up a RMA...thinking I shall need to send it out...

take everything out save for the cpu and videocard and see if it posts....

if so keep adding one by one till you see the problem

also disconnect everything save for you HDD.

If not, RMA and it seems a lot of people are having problems (including me...Mine stalled 2 minutes in loading win2kpro each time at that splashscreen and there was no hdd activity....on top of that it thought all ram was bad...)

hopefully they'll get through though

but RMA and expect a LONG time b4 they say antthing

its been 2 weeks with no progress 4 me

I wouldn't send it back just yet. Try some troubleshooting for a few days first:

Reseat all cards and memory. You would be surprised how often even veteran system builders bypass this easy mistake.

Make sure every little connection is the way it should be. One time I plugged in the power cord for my floppy drive one pin off and the computer wouldn't boot. It took me forever to figure out what was wrong because I didn't think to check the basics.

Reset your CMOS. It is always worth a shot.

Try only booting with the essentials installed. Remove everything but your CPU, memory, and video card. Add in one device at a time to try and determine what is causing the problem.

Try getting ahold of another PSU. If you have a weak PSU, that could definitely prevent the system from booting. It is one piece of hardware many people choose to skimp.

The memory is another possible culprit. If you have two sticks, then try one at a time to make sure one of them is not bad. The CPU or video card is most likely not the problem. Try to find replacements if possible just to make sure.

If these basic troubleshooting steps don't solve your problem, then most likely it is the motherboard and you should RMA it.

1. pull out the ram and reseat one stick. in DDR 1.
2. reseat the video card. Make sure the plastic insert is in there if you are not running an AGP pro card...
3. Make sure your case speaker is plugged in correctly.
4. Make sure your PS voltage selector switch is set to 115 volts.
5. Make sure your CPU fan is plugged in.

Let us know what happened.

Make sure you put your heatsink on in the right direction (illustrated guide on what to avoid) first. I assume you're using the True550 with this so power isn't a problem.

Next: Is your Corsair memory revision 1.1 (look at the sticker, should look like this, note the "v1.1" on it)? If not, you may be up against an issue that arises between the first revision of this memory, and at least some versions of the A7N8X-Deluxe BIOS. There is a simple workaround, if you happen to have some other DDR memory lying around, which is to use the other memory to get to the BIOS, then change the memory timings from "Optimal" to Expert, set the timings to Sync and 2 2 2 6, save the settings, then F10 to save and exit, let it complete the following POST and hit the boot stage, then shut down, put in your Corsair and off you go. Or contact Corsair for a swap.

Plug in some headphones or speakers into the audio-out (green) jack in the rear and see if the Post Reporter is saying anything, too. If the version-1 Corsair memory is the problem, I think you get either nothing or "System CPU Fail!" out of it.

Do I have to have my CPU fan connected to the motherboard header for it to boot?

I have a Swiftech MCX 462+ with a Panaflo 80mm connect by a 4-Pin adapter to my PSU. Therefore I cannot connect it to the header....does that pose a problem with this board?
