First time poster here (been a lurker for awhile), but was wondering if I could get some help. A friend has a project she is compiling about "hacking" activities people took part in when they were young. I know in the strict sense "hacking" is often an inaccurate umbrella-term for all sorts of stuff, but I'm sure you'll get the idea from her questions.
You are welcome to be anonymous, or not, either way, if you can answer these questions, it'd be great help. Hopefully, if some of the posts I get here get used (and/or people contact me privately) and it gets used in what she is doing, I can follow-up and post the end-result. If you do not include contact details (or message them to me privately) your comments will be referred to as "anonymous" should they be referenced in anything.

What sort of computer-related things did you do that were illegal?
Were you ever caught?
Why did you do it?
How did you learn to do these things?
What do you use your knowledge for now?
Is it better to use your knowledge legally or illegally? And why?
What would you tell potential future "hackers"?
Do you think hacking should be illegal?
What should the punishment be?
What should the public know about hacking?
Thanks for your help & time.
