Hello, a computer that is giving me problems (in Excel 97, when I try to open a file or ctrl+o the program just hangs) says a file named "ANXL8409.DLL" or something of that sort is missing/damaged. Oh and I guess you would need to search in a win98 computer with office 97 installed as well.

Can someone send that file to me as this is a computer at work and a reformat is not feasible. You can send it to mista_eng@yahoo.com

TIA!

Should be... perhaps searching "ANXL8409" will come up with something (I'm sure you did, but just wondering)? Also, I guess I shoulda mentioned this in my original post but I guess you would have to have Office 97 installed as well :(.

Win98SE and Office97 here -- no such file on my 'puter. You say it's "or something of that sort..." Maybe you need to get the exact file name that's missing.

Instead of a reformat, you might try a reinstall/repair of office97. If it's truly an Office97 file, that should fix it.

It's not on my Win98 SE, either. Two things to try:

1. Search for the file on your hard drive. It may be there, but the program requiring it may not have the location correct.

2. Try searching your registry for the file name and deleting the entry. Don't forget to back up your registry before you do it in case it screws up something else.

Since this is at your work, you could always ask whoever is in charge of the computers to deal with it.

Hey guys,

Sorry about the "something like that" vagueness, to be explicit, "ANXL8409.DLL" is the filename... since no one is finding it I guess it is not an Microsoft Office file. I have reinstalled MS Office and Excel twice but alas the error persists.

Actually, I am in charge of the computers :) so this problem is mine. The boss frowns upon the idea of a reformat though. I'll try digging into the registry tomorrow since the file wasn't present when I searched the drive.

Thanks for trying!

There is a site out there someplace (I forget the name of it) that has DLL's on it.

Do a search for any DLL (that it has) and POOF. there you go.

I wish I remembered the name but I don't.

Do a GOOGLE search for DLL'S!
