Help accessing folder

I just got my friends dell hdd but i cant boot with it because it gives error on startup.. but i can make it a slave hdd and boot off my master one. I can't access his folder with movies on it and such because it has a password... I know the password, is there anyway i can enter it and access his folder w/o booting off his HDD?
 
I think it's NTFS Ownership you're up against there. Is your own system WinXP Pro, WinXP Home, or Win2000 Pro, which one?
