Sounds like the restoration worked a little better than you expected, and restored the PC to stock everything 😕 Is it a pre-built? Compaq, Dell, Gateway etc?
 
perhaps u hadn't created a restore point in 2 years? Its unbelievably unlikely tho...

did you lose everything recent - do a search for a recent file/doc to see if everything was erased -
It might just be that all your files are still there, but they will need reinstalling - same as SP's, antivirus updates etc etc.
 
What did you use to restore it? A restore disc from the PC's manufacturer? If so, that might have wiped the drive, and wrote a new (or, old rather) disc image to it. Or it might have just wiped your operating system folders, leaving your data intact elsewhere.
 
have a ibm,went to bios and had a restore but doesnt tel me a date guess it went to far.Most of files ar still there but not working even old passwords and old program ar under old passwords.Put new norton on and cant get it to run.
 
Thank you for the reply i have a ibm pen2.whe it restored it went back to all my old passwords on all programs and cant open norton
