I recently bought a CM 690 case, and once it arrived I immediately began to set it up. Its my first build, so when the time came to take off the front panel...I worried a bit.

If you have the case, how did you go about this? Should I just force it off like the picture (apparently) tells me, or is there a better way to do it?

I got mine today as well. I used a table knife blade to work along the sides once I got it started by lifting at the bottom - the bezel was almost as tight as the left side panel. Only three split pins hold it on by friction on each side - no screws or anything.

Sumguy,

I don't have that specific case, but I downloaded the manual for the 690 and I might be able to help you out (I've worked with a lot of different cases). Some cases require that you exert a degree of force to get the front cover off... grab it at the bottom like the diagram shows and pull straight out steadily while holding the case firmly with your other arm. It may be pressure "locked" in place, but it will give and open from the bottom. It probably has some tabs or such at the top, so be careful not to damage them. My Antec P160 case is the same way...

I think you'll find it easy to remove and replace after the first time.

Good luck, Noel

Sorry for the long reply, I had some troubles. Being the ultimate noob that I am, I tried starting the PC without a fan on the CPU to see if it would run (yeah, I learned my lesson). It took me while to get the new paste on, but I still want to redo it later because I'm sure there are some air bubbles in it.

Anyway, I decided to just pull the sucker off. If it broke, theres always tape :p Thanks for the advice.
