I just downloaded an iso of mandrake 8.0. It burned fine, from what ive seen, but when I go to install Linux: I first get an error stating could not unpack second stage ramdisk. I hit enter to bypass this and then during the installation I get an error saying that the basesystem package is missing, and it redirects me back to the format screen. Does anyone know what to do???

Crossposting is rude.

'Error Mounting Ramdisk'
(Contributed by Shannon B. Saylors, edited)

"I got this error:

Mount failed: Invalid Argument. Error mounting ramdisk. This shouldn't happen, and I'm rebooting your system now.

I figured it out. It wasn't my media but my downloaded file! I downloaded the ISO file again and found out that my first ISO download wasnt completed (even though it said it was). Downloaded it again at night when the servers weren't busy and BOOM! It worked! Hope this helps someone from pulling out all their hair!"

[= 7.0] RAM Disk Error When Installing from HD
LM user Benjamin E. Barrowes encountered this problem:

"I keep getting the same error right after pointing it to my HDD, "Error reading (loading?) second stage RAM disk" at which point it freezes. I know I pointed it to the right place, because upon pointing it somewhere else it informs me there is no Mandrake image there, etc."
He came up with this workaround:

"I decided to give Mandrake one more try using the iso image and winimage to access it. Lo and behold, the the install flew past the ramdisk part with absolutely no problems and with the rest of the install so easy, linux was up and running within 1 hour!"
