I *might* have just finished my first build, but I am not sure, and I dont wanna turn it on and have it not work, or else someone might be harmed physically. here is the list of stuff in the box:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor - $322

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) - $81 x2

Here is a current picture

The cd drive has an IDE cable and power cord, HD has an SATA and power.

there is a wire from the front that is labeled power sw, not sure where it goes, if anywhere. also, the audio wires from the front. If i remove the jumpers from the mb and connect them, does that mean only the front audio jacks will work, and not the rear?
there is also what looks to be a fan wire from the PSU. where should I plug this into? the front 120mm fan is in the fan plug on the top of the MB. is that correct? should it be on the bottom? idk

The wire labeled power sw is the power switch wire, it should be connected to the on/off pins of the front panel connectors on the mobo.

Not totally sure about the front audio wires, are you talking about the jacks or simply the black and red wires to the speaker?

There should be a header on the mobo named PSU Fan (or similar) which is where you connect the PSU fan wire.

The front 120mm fan can either be connected directly to the PSU or the appropriate header on the mobo - the header will probably be named Case Fan (or similar).

You should be able to find the names of headers and jumpers in the manual so you can know where to put fan wires and stuff.

there is a spot for cpu fan, system fan, and chassis fan. not sure which of the last 2 the extra 120mm and psu fans go.

there are other plugs that attach to the front on and reset buttons, so not sure where power sw goes.

also, after putting the heatsink on, about 5 minutes later i couldnt get it to snap on correctly so i had to take it off and put it back on. should the thermal grease be ok?

You can put the 120mm fan in the chassis fan and the PSU one in the system fan, though this is only attached so you can monitor the PSU fans RPMs.

The power sw wire is the one that goes to the on/off switch so you're system probably won't power up at all if it's not attached.

The thermal grease should be fine but there's no harm in replacing it if you want.

If you dont turn that bad boy on! I will be forced to thrash you! hahaha ... Nice machine... makes want to take some pic's of mine right now!

oh sorry, didnt see that. thanks 🙂 i cant find a place for the power sw though :/

pwr switch on the case?

If you're looking for it on the mobo, the wire that comes from the front of the case plugs into a bunch of little male plugs sticking vertically out. They are grouped together for the leds and reset, pwr. You can just keep fiddleing around with it until you get the right plugs in, it's not gonna short anthing. Thats how I figured it out 😛

Anyone that finished making a PC with help from this forums shold post a picture! i like seeing pictures more then seeing specs!

are you saying the power sw takes care of all those? there were seperate ones for the led, reset, and power. ill look around again

mate,

the power sw cable plugs into the power connectors on the mobo .. that's it, pure and simple.

you'll probably have a cable labeled reset sw that plugs into the reset connectors.

you'll probably have a cable labeled power LED that plugs into the LED connector.

you'll probably have a cable labeled HDDLED that plugs into the HDDLED connnector.

The only totally necessary one is the power sw cable as this turns your computer on and off.

Your 120mm should be plugged into the chassis fan header.

The PSU fan is not important right now.

Plug in the power sw cable, the 120mm fan and turn the freaking thing on dude .. 😉.

alright i found it 🙂 now as soon as i find the switch on the psu I will turn it on 🙂 oh duh, its on the back

and i scratched up one side of the case while it was on its side :brokenheart:

I have the same mobo as you and the same type of case (Super Lanboy). Can you reach your CFPA (Front Panel Audio) wires from the front of your computer to your mobo. My GFX card gets in the way and the wires don't reach. 🙁

yes, its up and running, but i cant get onto the internet :/ the onboard network card is being recognized, but i cant get it working. not sure why. the windows xp firewall and the mb's firewall is confusing the hell out of me. ive been using windows 2000 pro and the only firewall/protection ive been using is my linksys router, so its all new to me. i installed everything from the MB cd, what else can i try?
