Help a dummie out connecting 2 computers to share the internet

I have searched and read until my eyes are crossed and still do not fully
understand what I need to do what I want to do. Here is my situation. My
computer is a Win 98 SE based system connected to the internet by cable.
I just built the wife a system based on Win XP. All I want to do is connect her computer where she can get on the net. No print shareing or anything else. I would like to do it wireless as I am too dang old to be crawling around in the attic. The computer will be in a room about 45 feet down the hall from mine. What hardware do I need. I would also like to go USB. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
erg

You may want to start here. You might want to consider an inexpensive 802.11b wireless router. Plug the cable (modem, I'm assuming) into the router and use a Cat5e patch cable to connect your machine's NIC to the router. Plug a wireless NIC into machine #2 (suggestion: movable antenna). Configure and share away.

I use an SMC 7004AWBR wireless router and it has worked very well for me (roaming laptops). Others will weigh in with their recommendations.

My 2¢.

Thanks for the reply. That gets me headed in the right direction. Any recommendations on a witless NIC card ( brand or model )
