Deadly in need of help. 🙁.

Actually I haven?t put any system together in recent, ah, decade, so I?ll detail what I have done.

Parts list: mostly from newegg.com
XP 2100+
8RDA+
Crucial 512mb pc2100
Maxtor 80gb 7200rpm
Sapphire 8500le 128mb
Foxconn PC-132 350W ATX
SLK-7
Ystech 80mm adjustable.

1) install cpu
2) install heatsink
3) install cpu fan, cable to the fan1 slot
4) install memory in Bank 0, Dimm 1
5) install ATA133 cable in IDE1
6) HD is cable select, connect on master
7) Install video card (there is no monitor port on the board?? You must use a video card?)
8) Install USB KB and mouse on USB1, the back panel one.
9) Install IEEE1394

I didn?t install any FDD or CD yet, then I begin to connect front panel cable.

10) Reset cable in J2, first 2 jumper (I guess the cable can face either away)
11) Speaker cable in J2
12) I don?t have a 3 pin power LED cable, only + P Cable and ? P cable, so +p to J2 Power LED 3, -P to 5
13) HD LED to J3
14) Power on/off to J3

Connect power supply, no post but fast click from speaker. No HD running, no beep etc, no display on debug LED.

15) uninstall video card (suspect not enough power) No difference
16) unplug KB & mouse, no difference
17) check memory & IDE cable & HD setting & front panel cable, nothing weird.

I read the post about the non-standard USB onboard, but I didn?t connect the front panel USB yet. Where should I check from? Later I unplugged everything except the harddisk, and still HD won?t run. Does that mean my power supply is bad? Go_for @ nforceshq.com got same problem, but he found it was his USB onboard caused it. Anyone can figure out my problem? Thanks a lot guys.

kinda silly suggestion....
check PS, any switch on back?
check PS connection, re-seat cable.
Try looking at the CLK BIOS and see if its at normal position

or put the mb out of case and test it for a foam.

right between the northbridge and the power connector is a jumper. Make sure the jumper is connected.

make sure the JCMOS jumper (near the battery) is jumpered on pins 1 & 2.

Put the ram in the dimm slot closest to the CPU. And make sure you push it in good.

Now try powering it up and check the Diagnostic chip near the bottom right of the board. What does it say?

haha, got 50% to work. Last night I end up tearing everything apart and did again. Now at least the fan is spinning! lol. POST code 26H.

Later I found on nforceshq.com epox forum about 26H problem, kinda get it solved, so if anyone got problem like me:

1) No post but click
Try unplug USB3 onboard cable first, then boot again. If ok, then put back USB3, but leave pin 10 unplugged. If it is not USB problem, redo everything again may solve it.

2) 26H
See Nforceshq.com, basically you need to find another video card to boot the computer, then try disable/enable all the gadgets in bios.

thanks guys, hope I could discard my voodoo on saturday and drop in the 8500le.

Do not put any older vid cards in the AGP slot. If that voodoo card is a 3xxx version you could do serious damage with a 3.3v agp card.
