I have a Vizio 60" LED TV. It has just recently started showing these white vertical lines in the tv picture. Please see picture below.

List of items I have already tried.
1. Brought in another TV and made sure it wasnt the cable connection.
2. Disco tv from cable and connect to laptop to display as a monotor. Same results.
3. Replaced HDMI cables.
4. Tried all available HDMI connections with multiple cables.

Any advice on how to fix or how to diagnose would be greatly appreciated.

I just found a youtube video of this, and the tv in the youtube video looks just like mine. What the guy did was remove the back panel, and get to the ribbons for the led screen, he removed the ribbons, and took a pencil eraser and erases (cleaned) the copper contacts, then put it all back together, and amazingly, it fixed his issue. I will try this when i get home, and see if it works. If it does I will repost on here and let everyone know the fix.

Link to youtube possible fix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE0eqB4Ppjw

In the mean time, any more help or advice is greatly appreciated.

A pencil eraser will probably work, but it may leave tiny pieces of rubber particulate, or any other contaminant that may have been on the eraser, on the contacts. A pencil eraser is also slightly abasive, which could scratch the thin gold plating on contacts.

A better method may be to use a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Better yet would be electrical contact cleaner.

Believe it or not, WD-40 works very well. However, do NOT spray it directly on either the ribbon or the contact receptical because it will leave a lot of residue which could gum up the works, later. Rather, moisten the tip of the Q-tip, and use that to clean the ribbon wire contacts. Then, use the other end (still dry) to wipe off any remaining WD-40.

Hope that helps. :)

Can't tell from the OP, but Is it the same source (blu ray player, Set top box, etc, game console) that is causing the problem? not sure if cable connection is Cable TV or the cable providing the video signal...

Back in the day, a good solid smack on the back of the set fixed all kinds of issues.

Yeah - The technique was callled, "Accu-Basher." It's not how hard you hit it. It's where and how. I usually tried clapping both hands on the sides of the chassis. :p
