Quick question regarding the 5850, didn't think it needed a new thread, I have an OCZ 600w modular PSU that has 1 6pin and 1 8pin PCIe connectors. I just realized that the 8pin doesn't fit with the reference cooler. Is using the molex->6pin just as good? thanks!

I wouldn't use the molex-6pin. Just plug the 8 pin into the 6 pin

why would he use the 8 pin when he juss said it just doesn't use it?

anyways go with the 5770 and wait for the dx11 and generation to upgrade and update itself as games actually start using dx11. as of right now ati has made mature drivers for the 5770 and the newer 5XXX series.

i'd start with what i can get and eventually as the year progresses and the new games come out which have dx11 i'd hop on the 6XXX series

Why ask why? Drink Bud Dry!

Seriously though, the OCZ ModXtreme 600 has two 12V rails @25A each. The 6+2 PCIe plug is hard-wired to a different 12V rail than the mobo and drives, so it is "better" power. Most PSU makers try to keep the two PCIe plugs on separate rails to spread the load, which would mean the 6 pin plug shares a rail with the mobo, fans, and drives. Being a modular design he might be able to determine which 12V rail he draws from, but I am not sure if OCZ denotes which rail drives which plug or if the plain 6-pin plug is also hard-wired.
