Here's the scoop...

AOL Broadband coming into an Actiontech DSL modem, then to a Linksys 4 port / Access Point --- A Win98 SE PC is hard wired to the Linksys --- 3 more computers (each is XP Home ED.) are connected wirelessly....

Now, the Win98 SE (hard wired) and 1 XP PC cannot connect to secure web sites. (IE. Hotmail login, Norton Live Update, checkouts when shopping)

I've spoken with Linksys and AOL Tech Support and each of them say it's not a problem with their product.

If I connect the 98SE PC directly into the DSL modem and eliminate the network and Linksys then everything works great on that PC. I can get to any website, secure and unsecure.

I will entertain any advice given but keep in mind, in your replies, I am an IT lvl 3 tech myself. So no need to get to wordy (ie. click start in the lower left, click settings, click control panel) :) Just want to save some typing on your end.

You've probably tried it all since you're a tech-guru, but a suggestion:

Is your IP addressing configured correctly? Unless you have multiple IPs reserved with your provider you might be having trouble with the Linksys configuration - because that's what it sounds like.

Are you accepting cookies? Have you tried minimizing and using IE? You're not blocking port 443, are you?
hmmm...are you getting a connection refused message, or what happens? Have you enabled SSL 2.0 and 3.0? Does it happen at all HTTPS sites... Have you tried others?

Have tried accepting all cookies all the way down to accepting no cookies.
IP addressing appears to all be in order; according to myself, Linksys & AOL

Strange you should ask about using IE Spookyfish. It seems like it was working a few day ago and now it's not.
I'm not for certain about that but now u got me curious.

I'm not getting a "connection refused" message. Only a "time out" message. It's like the page isn't there. Page cannot be displayed. Or in Live Updates case. It tells me to make sure i'm online.

I'll check the SSL 2 & 3.
As far as ports go. I don't think any are being blocked.

This isn't my network. Only a client of mine.
I do appreciate the help.

have you tried using port forwarding on your router? I would give it a shot anyways, just forward all ports (0-65535) to the 98 box and see if that fixes anything. Not exactly a permanent solution or anything, but it kind of knocks out the router as a possibility then.
