i have yet to see any "chef" on HK that is executive chef caliber. they all suck.

im waiting for top chef, thats my show that i love.

I agree with you, but it's pure chicanery that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

what really killed HK for me was all the obvious scripting/staging involved.

when I watch a competitive reality show, I at least expect the pretext of fairness within the competition.
 
I don't doubt that the producers jerk the chefs around, deliberately screw with the stoves, etc. I do not care, I love the freaking train wreck of the show. I view it as an entertainment show, not 'reality' TV.

I cannot wait until the fun starts at 8.

It stands to reason you should be a line chef at your own restaurant for a while until you take over to make the necessary adjustments.

*Allegedly* the producers submitted the visa application on her behalf without getting her to sign it, which led to the rejection, which led to them backing out on the promised prize. So, *allegedly*, the producers intentionally or unintentionally made it so she couldn't collect then blamed her for the inability to collect.

Blue team looked like shit too. Didn't appear to be much talent between the remaining chefs.

Red team shows a bit of promise -- way more than the blue team.
 
It's great, one dropped, the rest suck ass, and there is a guy with a tatoo on his forehead.

I love watching this train wreck. The only thing I don't like is the challenges, seriously, the tie thing is getting old. They do it on masterchef too, its always a tie until the last person. You'd think the producers would realize its getting old.

That's what I thought too. He looked like he was going to be one of the good ones or at least some muched needed character in the line up. He could of just been nervous and had a panic attack.
 
Is Gordon Ramsay actually popular in the US?

I always thought he was just an angry arsehole that shouts in people's faces when they overcook an omelette.

He is pretty popular, but it's more or less like..cult celebrity status or something? Hard to explain, but he's got a very entertaining personality. He's blunt, explosive, but beneath that, he seems to be a real genuinely sincere person, with a good amount of insight.
 
You have to watch his shows on BBC America. The stuff he does for the UK is far superior to the crap he does in the US. (I guess they need to dumb it down for us)

I do like Masterchef. That seems to be more of a competition.

Hells Kitchen is a trainwreck. Those contestants on HK are a joke.
 
You'd be a fool not to see that HK is a scripted, edited-to-hell entertainment production.

The contestants are a joke. It's not about cooking, it's about how entertaining these personalities are. They're obviously given cue cards to read witty comments for their lone interviews.

Even the diners are hired actors. The whole thing is a play from top to bottom for your amusement.

Take it for what it is. It IS entertaining.
