It seems that gas prices are going up 2-5c per day in the Boston area, this morning its about $2.55, I bet on the way home it is at least $2.57 or so. While its still less that $4/gal from last summer, it still hurts. Especially since the mileage rate was reduced from .585 to .505/mile and there was about 0 COLA to my salary.

It impacts to a significant (i.e. measurable) degree, but not a huge one in the grand scheme. I did a 2000 mile trip last summer and that took maybe 80-90 gallons in fuel, so even a dollar more per gallon is really trivial compared to other costs, as you mention.
