During my 49 years on this planet I think I?ve done just about every drug there is.
Yet I find that I never became ?hooked? on any of the so called Hard Drugs!

Yet I AM still a drug addict!

What?s the drug that I?m addicted to you ask?

Nicotine, ironically one of the two LEGAL drugs I do. (Caffeine being the other)

I remember hearing stories when I was growing up about drug pushers.

?Here KID, this is FREE? Then once they get you hooked?.

I think cigarettes were about 25 cents a pack when I first started smoking. Now they are over $5.00 a lot of places. THIS is the drug dealer they should have warned us about when we were kids! Or sure we were warned. ?Smoking is a filthy habit.? nothing about the health consequences, not way back in the 60?s. But boy they sure warned us about every other drug!! ?Don?t smoke pot.? Speed KILLS? ?Heroin KILLS? take your pick.

Having DONE other drugs, I can assure you that THIS is the most addictive drug there is! And now that I?m good and hooked, who get?s the lion share of the money I pay to feed my habit? Good old Uncle Sam is my guess. My thoughts on the subject of THIS addiction is that no matter what the government say?s, it wants us to keep smoking so it can keep getting our $$$. Aren?t there free programs to kick other drug habits? I don?t know of any government sponsored quit smoking programs. (Though there may very well be some)

For the first several years I smoked I was SURE that I could quit ANY TIME I WANTED. Then one day I woke up and realized that I couldn?t! I was HOOKED.

My advice to ALL you young folks out there. If you don?t smoke, don?t start! If you DO smoke, quit RIGHT NOW!!!! Do it before you, like I are hooked and can?t see anyway out!!! (well maybe I?m being to hard on myself, I suppose I could quit. But take it from me, it?s DAMN hard. And the longer you smoke, the harder it gets!)

QUIT NOW! QUIT TODAY!!

Cigarettes are almost impossible to get off of.

I'm glad I never started and never will.

Really? I only smoke when I drink(like 2 or 3) but I have stopped doing that even lately. I used to smoke a lot more several years ago but I quit for sometime and then smoked only when I drink. That is coming to an end too. I would have to say Amphetamines and Benzos are 100x harder to quit than Cigarettes.

Same here

Anyway, I'm of the opinion that you can quit easily as long as you have a good enough reason. When I've tried to quit I get mean. I mean, really mean. A year or so ago I actually had a good reason and I just dropped it no problem after smoking for about 4 years. 3 or so months later I lost my reason (no, not a girl), and now I'm right back where I started, still smoking and lacking a reason to quit :(

My Grandfather quit cold turkey after smoking for 50 years when he found out his son had cancer. I'm sure it's hard as hell, but you can too.

Wait... this wasn't another brutuskend joke? Wow, now I don't feel so bad that I had to re-read it a few times looking for the funny (which I didn't find)

No alcohol/tobacco (sp?) for me, and I hope that never changes. Preach on. It kinda makes you think when you see an old guy that's been smoking for years suffering from it... :(

Ok, so everyone won't be dissapointed.

Guy to girl. "Do you smoke after sex?"

Girl to guy. "I don't know, I never looked!"

I feel your pain dude. The only time i do not crave a smoke is when im sick with a cold or flu. its strange i have absolutly no desire for a cig at all when im ill, but when im feeling better the craving comes back.

I truly wish i would quit. Its expensive and bad for my health. I did quit for almost a year but i found out my dad had leukemia, between the stress of that and some problems at work i picked it back up again. :disgust:
