The first time I saw that, I only saw a big guy. Now I see there's 2 sides to him. I get it now!

I would love fiber. I'd probably start a small colo business of sorts or just have ridiculous bandwidth for my own stuff.

Never going to happen though. I work for the ISP so if there even was any plans I'd hear about them. There are plans to roll out fiber in a city 300km from mine though, so guess you never know, but I doubt it will come here.

Is there a hidden usage cap?

Perhaps you can split/resell the service to your neighbours.

Coverage area is tiny. But there is hope in the future for that kind of service.

With the advent of streaming, I don't really require such bandwidth.

When I had fios, there were no sites that could even saturate 25% of my bandwidth. This would only be useful for serious downloaders or home server shenanigans.

Yup!

I also do a fair amount of uploading downloading to the DC in Chicago, so this will be a nice boost.

I'd gladly pay a $500 install fee for that service at those prices. I'm currently paying $45/month for 20Mbps but usually get 23Mbps sustained in downloads. 10 is $45, 30 is $55, and 50 is $85. That doesn't mentioned that upload speeds are a joke.

And I'd gladly pay the $500 install fee to get your "pathetic" 20mbps speeds. Im maxed out at 2.6mbps att DSL living in a small town. That's my only option. :(

What an odd neighbhorhood to wire up.

You have uptown, sure, which is a commercial area and an "upbeat" part of town. Then you have the residential areas around lyndale avenue, but the kicker here. These are $18,000 homes in gangbanger neighbhorhood.

Why bother?

Install guy for FiOS told me that houses make the best customers/long term equipment placement. The city is BS with constant renters moving and the new renters and building management wanting all the wiring, equipment etc taken out. Its expensive to install and connect a home for fiber so long term customers are best.

I was told condo buildings are the best, as they have lesser outlay, 1 switch/router and hooking up 50+ units if they want.

I wish they had service in St. Paul. :( No good internet service here. Right now I am paying $45/mo to CenturyLink for mediocre speeds, because paying $60 for Comcast isn't worth it IMO.
