Nice, hopefully their service is better than their web design ;).

Lots of stock photos there, I like the one with the server farm and the poorly resized images in the middle.

It's nice to see that they have a few different branches. I wonder how easy it is to spread as an ISP, I always thought that the big corporations have already paid for rights to run fiber, I would think that they would give you a hassle if you crossed their lines or dug in an area that already has their fiber.

They're handing off the data via Ethernet too! So turning bandwidth up/down is super super simple. I also don't have to deal with a modem.

Yeah, I have been giving him shit for the website..always baffles me how a web company can have such a weak website.

Their big contract is Minneapolis wide wireless 802.11b/g/n coverage. That was installed 3-4 years ago, now they're running new fiber for backbone, and if they're on your side of the street, they're offering cheap fiber for people...which is awesome, because it will probably help them pay for it, and then I get Fiber to the basement!

Haha! Nice. Where did you hear about them? I would love to find somebody like that around here.

I actually followed their wireless development, then my BIL (across the street) said he got a flier with the pricing/speeds and I siad DO IT.

Got mine a few days later and I was like a kid in a candy store!

Back in my college Speech class, we had to do a Demonstration Speech. My college had a lot of working adults. One of those working adult students worked for a telecommunications company and his speech was about the development of fiber lines (he actually brought a physical line in) and how it was going to replace telephone lines. That was almost 25 years ago! I'm amazed at how slow fiber installation has been. I know I don't have access to it here just outside of Houston, TX.

These guys should be able to take a nice chunk of business away from Comcast if it catches on like wildfire. Hopefully it will. Comcast's prices are outrageous & everyone knows it. Competition is a good thing.

I'd happily pay $1k installation & $99/month for that level of service.

Fucking Bell is selling FTTN as FIBE, trying to make people think it's Fiber to your house. :colbert:

175/175 for 200 a month, but with 300GB cap :colbert:

Seriously, installation is a pittance when you factor in what you actually get.

Hell, even the 50/50 plan is insanely worthwhile (specifically if it is truly without usage caps). Full matched upload and down?
Make running a personal "cloud" service that much more convenient. Or even simply going with any available storage plans.

If they offered this up, I'd probably do the same thing - enjoy gigabit for some time, then drop back to a more reasonable level. I'm sure it'll be difficult justifying gigabit internet speeds at the moment, considering most web services will likely fail to provide anything approach those speeds. Making multiple connections across different services? Max out what five different providers can push to your house, and still have room left to download even more without slowing anything down.

Just to save money and be realistic, an uncapped 50 or 100mbps line at their prices, still leaves me drooling and dreaming. And while I'm dreaming, I'd gladly pay a $500 installation for those speeds and prices. Of course, with a little background check on their company first - if it's hit and miss service with unpredictable yet frequent downtime, no thanks.

LOL! I would die laughing if they're providing metro ethernet and then turning around and using their wireless as backhaul.

Here's your gigabit ethernet connection!
Wait, why is this never getting above 20 Mbs?
Oh, we didn't say you'd get 1 Gbs thruput, only that you'd get a 1 Gbs interface.

What will you do with 1Gbs?

I get the standard 35 mbps and it's so fast I don't even know what to do with it. I can download complete HD seasons of shows faster than I can watch...
