OK. So i connected the L1 bridges initially with conductive pen ink. The pen itself spit out too much ink so i used a toothpick. That didnt work. So i got it all off and used HB pencil lead. That didnt work. I can't get over 8.5 for the clock multiplier and i'm getting kinda ticked off.

I'm running Duron 800, MSi K7T Pro2-A, and Alpha PAL 6035.

As of now i'm running at 901 mhz on 8.5 clock multiplier and 106 fsb. I tried running at 110 fsb but my PC100 ram won't overclock to that speed. Should i just try other pencils? thats the only conclusion i can come to. need help please...

I use conductive pen to, it works the best if you use a new razor blade and be sure to shake up the pen for 2 minutes.

I haven't had any luck with a pencil across the L1 bridges in two tries... However it sounds like you unlocked it if were able to get the multiplier from 8.0 to 8.5.

This is a problem that many people are having with the Pro2A...typical multiplier problem. In fact I just got my Pro2a and can't get past 8.5 multiplier either...strange how in the review at Hardocp he couldn't get past 8.5 multiplier either...hmmmmm

Ööhm to me it seems that it has nothing to do w/ the multiplier anymore, since you can cange it to 8.5, so there is definately something strange somewhere else since you cannot get it to work w/ 9x100 but 8.5xwhatever

i'd go for the mobo explanation.

Well I was able to get it to 9 x 100 at 1.675V but not to 9.5 x 100 at any voltage (save for closing the L6). :(

This is a "newer" week 45 Duron 700.

I've been putzing around with it and have it at 9 x 105 right now (945) at 1.775V. Seems it doesn't like anything over 9.5 right now. Could be the defogger stuff needs to set a little more too... ;) Did some sisoft sandra on the 900 & 945 and saved 'em.

I may try going for the gusto with 110FSB (yeah right) and 9. That'll definitely mean 1.80V, but I'm not optimistic about it. Could be a re-do of the bridges is needed too (a 10 x 100, 1.8V right off when I first tried it was a joke...) :p

Poof, mine doesn't like the 10.0 multiplier at all, but 9.5* 109 it's ok with. (week 27 Duron 600) I had to use 1.85v, but to get past the 1ghz milestone, I'll risk $50. Been up for about 4 months now, no problem.(the first 3 at 107*9.5=1016, then I decided to try 109 again and it worked.) Retry the bridges, this has helped me in the past, when I hit a wall.

I got it to 963 (107 x 9), it booted okay, got into 98SE, did the sandra benches, started up seti, and got an illegal operation... :p (geez... I'm used to that with windud)

I backed it back to 106 x 9 (954, which I skipped before) and got the same result with seti. I'm back to 945 (105 x 9 @1.800V) where seti did run for a bit before I decided to go higher...heh... and may try to burn it in a little at this point. I've been very aggressive with this OCing for some reason (cocky I guess... ;)). I might let it cook this way for a little bit before trying the bridges again (taking my FOP32-1 in and out isn't bad with the trick I use, but I stress out a little every time 'cause the space in there is tight and the clip is so close to a toroid that's right in front of some huge capacitors...:() I've got plenty of arctic silver here though, so that's not prob. :D

When I did my very first OC on my P3 600 (eventually to 800) back in August, I ran it @700 for like a week at 1.8V. Then dropped it back down to default voltage (1.65V) and then took it all the way to 800 @default voltage. It's been running like that for almost 5 months stable (seti 24/7). Now that I just put a stick of Kingmax TinyBPA PC150 in it yesterday, I could go back to that machine and try some more while this one burns in... *evil grin*

;)

try putting it to 1.85V. the extra .05V may be able to give the boost it needs to hit 1ghz ;)

toph99, then I'd have to close the L6 bridge to get the extra 0.05V on the K7TPro2-A. The voltage selections only go up to 1.800V. But that is an option that I do have... :)
