HELLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!! Router question!!!!!!!

friend of mine using cable modem. (dynamic ip)

last night they decided to buy Linksys BEFSR41 to share two WinXP pc.
it is pretty much no brainer to install.
HOWEVER!!!!!
After using router, her MSN messenger can not using live chat, nor receiving any file from her contact list.

What seems to be the problem here?
Should she disable the build in firewall? if so, how?

so, no regular messenger, or no video/audio chat?
The ports for both video and audio, and file transfers need to be forwarded to her machine. The firewall is not the issue, NAT and routing is.

sorry..I mean regular msg is okay.
but no voice chat
and no file able to transfer.

and I have NO idea on any networking. 🙁
so can you kindly tell me what to look for?


btw, please explain to me the procedure as I am a 5 year old. 🙁

The Firewall is inherit in the Router function/

No NAT = No Firewall = No need for Router.

As for explanation for what to do: Special Applications - Port List.

Or ask you nanny.

Take a look at the manual, and look under virtual server or port forwarding. it should all be there.
